Marquee Hire Project Brief
In only the second year since the Bristol 10k Run was launched by Bristol City Council the number of runners increased to 8000 entries, an increase of 50% on 2008. The race follows a similar but shorter route to the Bristol Half Marathon with both events starting and finishing at the @Bristol complex.
Danco marquee hire was contracted by Richmond Event Management to provide a tented village giving the runners covered areas for changing, bag storage and providing marquees hire for the sponsors, site physio and first aid. The marquees had to be erected on hard standing areas used by the public within short build and dismantling times.
Solution
With the site and working areas secure to provide a safe working environment within a public domain, Danco marquee hire crew's arrived early to ensure that the build deadline was achieved.
The marquees were delivered in several loads to each of the three locations to suit the customer's schedule and to maintain an organised build program whilst keeping the working areas as tidy and as safe as possible.
As the site owners prohibit drilling holes to secure the structures, Danco brought in a large number of weights to provide the necessary ballast for each marquee, the larger marquees requiring the use of a fork lift truck to erect the structures ensuring safe working practices were adhered to.
Once the race was over Danco's staff began working immediately to dismantle the marquee hire. As again the site is a public domain the organisers agreed to hace the site clear by the end of the day and this was achieved safely and in an organised manner.
